2019-20 FA Cup

Semifinals
18-19 July 2020

Manchester United and Chelsea will renew hostilities when they meet in the second FA Cup semifinal, set for Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday 19 July 2020, kick-off at 17:00.

The winners will advance to face either Arsenal or Manchester City in the final on 1 August 2020. The Gunners and the Citizens will meet in the first semifinal at Wembley on the evening of Saturday 18 July.

Man United and Chelsea have been regular combatants this season, meeting three times already. The Red Devils have claimed victories on each occasion – 4-0 at home and 2-0 away in their Premier League meetings in August 2019 and February 2020 respectively, as well as 2-1 away in a League Cup clash in October last year.

Chelsea will hope to change that narrative come Sunday evening, and they come into the clash on the back of an unconvincing 1-0 home win over Norwich City on Tuesday night – though the result does strengthen their grip on a top-four Premier League finish.

"We take our three points, we focus on ourselves, we can sit down and watch the other teams this week and focus on our FA Cup semifinal at the weekend, but there's obviously still work to do,” said manager Frank Lampard.

"There's a nervy feeling for understandable reasons, so I'm pleased. We went a bit slow for about 10 or 15 minutes in the second half. Then we began moving the ball again and there was a bit of personality in our game today, but we can improve."

United will have a couple days less rest, as they will tackle Crystal Palace in a Premier League match on Thursday. The Red Devils stuttered somewhat earlier this weekend when they conceded a late goal to Southampton to be held 2-2 at home.

"You've just got to take it because we've won so many games that way ourselves. It's all part of the learning for this team to be sat there, really disappointed, after you think the three points are in the bag,” said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"But probably we didn't deserve three points today. They played well. They're physical, very fit. We never got the rhythm in our passing, especially when we got to 2-1 but we created chances and played some fantastic football at times."
