Anthony Joshua v Kubrat Pulev

Unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO world champion Anthony Joshua is a clear favourite ahead of his fight with Kubrat Pulev on December 12.

This will be the British superstar's maiden fight since he reclaimed his titles by defeating Andy Ruiz Junior as he won via unanimous decision in a rematch in December 2019.

His defeat to Mexican boxer Ruiz Jr in June 2019 is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing.

Joshua is also coming into his fight with Pulev as a clear favourite and he cannot afford to suffer another shock defeat aginst the Bulgarian boxer, who has never won a world title.

Being the man who loses twice as a massive favourite is a hard thing to live down going forward.

One of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all-time, Mike Tyson lost two of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

The American legend suffered surprise defeats to Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield when he was the favourite to win the two matches.

A defeat to Pulev would be another setback in Joshua's career as he looks to become the best British boxer ever and one of the greatest in the sport.

Joshua says he knows what it is at stake and he warned Pulev that he is now an experienced fighter.

“I’ve watched back all my fights. I watched the Eric Molina fight the other day," Joshua said.

"I watched a bit of the Carlos Takam fight, I watched the Wladimir Klitschko fight and I was like ‘Wow! How was I in these type of fights with the little bit of experience I had?’.

“Looking at who I am today, I like to reflect a lot and I think ‘I was just a pup, I was a little puppy’. I feel stronger," he continued.

"I feel smarter and it’s the same thing I say with the other guys I’m trying to catch up to and I want to fight.

“The longer they leave it, the tougher it’s going to be for them because the experience is the best teacher and I’m gaining so much experience every day I step in the gym.”
