2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 34

Chelsea v West Ham United

Stamford Bridge

West Ham will be targeting a second Premier League double over Chelsea in three seasons whey they lock horns in a London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, April 24.

The Hammers emerged 3-2 victors in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium on December 4, having lost their previous two encounters against the west Londoners.

David Moyes' side saw their top-four hopes fade even further with a 1-1 draw against relegation-threatened Burnley last weekend, which followed on from a 2-0 defeat to Brentford.

The Irons have subsequently slipped to seventh in the standings, five points shy of Tottenham, who have a game in hand on their neighbours.

Moyes admits his players let a big opportunity slip through their fingers after both Spurs and Arsenal lost their games.

"We had great chances to seal it. Maybe you'd say we had a bit of ill-fortune, but we needed a win today and it's disappointing we didn't get it," he said.

"We need Michail Antonio’s goals because if you're going to challenge and you want to be at the top, you need to take your opportunities when you make them. Today, we didn't take our opportunities.

"We had a great chance and we've not taken it. Today was a great opportunity for us and we've let that go. I'm gutted with that and I've not got a great deal to say about it."

The Blues bounced back from their shock 4-1 loss to the Bees in resounding fashion as they hammered Southampton 6-0 on the south coast on April 9.

Thomas Tuchel's team booked their place in the FA Cup final after beating city rivals Crystal Palace 2-0 in the semis last weekend.

Tuchel hailed his players for retaining their focus throughout against the Eagles after another demanding week, where they lost to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

"It was challenging for us to keep that focus and discipline up because of our very demanding schedule, we came from Madrid, so this is where the credit goes. I'm very proud that we did not lose the focus for a second," the German said.
