Matchday 28

Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán
Sevilla, Spain
Friday, 7 April 2023
Kick-off is at 19h00

Sevilla FC will lock horns with Celta Vigo in a Spanish La Liga match at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on April 7.

Current Form

Sevillistas emerged as 2-0 winners over Cadiz CF away on April 1 and it was their second win in their last three matches in the league.

Sevilla have also won two of their last three matches at home while the other game ended in a defeat at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

On the other hand, Celta were held to a 2-2 draw by UD Almeria at home on April 2 to extend their unbeaten run to six matches in La Liga.

The Sky Blues are also unbeaten in their last four matches on the road having registered two draws and two wins as the visitors.

What Is At Stake

Sevilla are in the race to finish in the top six and they are currently placed 13th on the league standings - 14 points behind sixth-placed Villarreal CF.

A victory over Celta would see the Sevillistas boost their top six hopes, but Celta will not be pushovers.

Celta are also harbouring ambitions of finishing in the top six as they are placed 10th on the standings and they will be keen to overcome Sevilla.

Team News

Sevilla are yet to report any injuries in their camp and the 1945-46 La Liga champions have no suspension worries.

Meanwhile, Celta also do not have suspension concerns, but Agustín Marchesín, Óscar Mingueza, Augusto Solari and Diego Alves are all currently injured.

Key Players

Youssef En-Nesyri is Sevilla's dangerman having scored the most goals (six) for the team in the league this season and he has the ability to inspire his side to a win over Celta.

Sevilla manager José Luis Mendilibar will have to come up with a plan to contain Celta's deadly forward Iago Aspas who has netted 12 goals and provided three assists in La Liga this term.

Quotes

"It was a difficult game. Almeria scored the first goal. We lost our cool, but we managed to tie the game," Sevilla manager Carlos Carvalhal said after their clash with Almeria.

"We had to react twice. We tried to win until the last second, having two or three clear opportunities in the last eight minutes. We conceded again, which was a hard blow, but now we know how to react.

"Today we did it twice and picked up one more point. We were already adrift at sea and this has its interpretation: we were at a disadvantage and managed to reach the coast in the middle of nowhere. Now the water is further away."

Head-to-Head

Celta and Sevilla drew 1-1 in their last meeting in La Liga with the game taking place at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos on 30 December 2022.

The draw extended Sevillistas' unbeaten run to five matches in the league against the Sky Blues - winning three times and drawing once.
