As Inter Milan prepare to claim their first Serie A title since the 2023/24 season, the Italian giants will now shift their focus to Torino away this Sunday.

Inter currently leads the Serie A standings after accumulating 78 points from 33 games so far.

Adding to their rampant form, Inter recorded a 3-0 win against Cagliari last Friday, maintaining a 12-point gap over nearest rivals AC Milan in second spot.

Inter noted three consecutive victories and two draws in their last five Serie A assignments. While Inter coach Cristian Chivu reiterated that UEFA Champions League football is a must, Inter are in a strong position to lift the league trophy in the next couple of weeks.

Torino on the other hand, are in 12th position at the moment with 40 points to their name from 33 matches.

The Turin side managed only a 0-0 draw with Cremonese last time out but maintained their three-match unbeaten run. Overall, Torino will head into their next fixture with three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last handful of games.

Speaking after Inter Milan’s win over Cagliari, Chivu praised his side for being competitive at this stage of the campaign, stressing that UEFA Champions League qualification has been a clear mandate.

“There is awareness of the work done, of how much good has been built to be competitive,” Chivu said.

“We have reached the Champions League objective, now we think about being competitive until the very end.

“There are also the human qualities of these players, who left last season behind them. It was not simple, but they put themselves on the line, showed their face, tried to react to the difficulties and maintained something important that had been built.”
