Round four preview of English Premier League - Leicester look to stop Reds

The fourth round of matches for the 2018/19 Premier League season will be played on the weekend of September 1-2, with the key match seeing Liverpool take on Leicester City away from home.

The Reds – who will be looking for goals from African forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – are chasing a fourth straight win and looking to get a jump on their rivals, as their clash at the King Power Stadium is the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Ndidi

The match will also bring about a fascinating midfield battle between two of the most highly-regarded African players in the Premier League, with the Foxes’ Wilfred Ndidi looking to stymie the attacking prowess of ‘Pool’s Naby Keita.

From the match in Leicester we move to five 16h00 CAT kick-offs, the pick of which sees Chelsea host unbeaten Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri’s Blues have a 100 percent record so far and will fancy their chances of a fourth straight win, but the Cherries showed real character to fight back from two goals down against Everton last weekend and won’t be easy prey.

Gueye

At the same time, Ivorian Jean Michael Seri will look to continue his excellent start to life in England when Fulham head to Brighton & Hove Albion. Wilfried Zaha’s impressive form should continue unabated when Crystal Palace host Southampton. Idrissa Gueye’s Everton will target a home win over Steve Mounie’s Huddersfield Town, and West Ham United’s hopes of turning their season around may rest on the result of their clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Saturday’s action wraps up at the Etihad Stadium, where Mohamed Diame’s Newcastle United will be hard pressed to get anything out of their clash with champions Manchester City. The Citizens, who could well look to Algerian Riyad Mahrez for inspiration, have won four of their last five matches against the Magpies and scored 16 goals in the process.

Mahrez

Sunday’s early game sees Ivorian veteran Sol Bamba come up against fellow West Africans Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alex Iwobi as Cardiff City chase their first win of the league season when they host Arsenal in the Welsh capital.

The weekend’s games wrap up with two 17h00 CAT kick-offs at Turf Moor and Vicarage Road, as Burnley host Manchester United and Watford take on Tottenham Hotspur respectively. While the former game is a meeting of two teams looking to boost their confidence, the latter sees a Hornets team looking to keep up their outstanding form after picking up three wins from as many games. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs may well prove a much tougher test.
