MIDDLESBROUGH VS BURTON ALBION – THE RIVERSIDE STADIUM

Middlesbrough, managed by the familiar-faced Tony Pulis, find themselves in sixth position – the final playoff place - in the Sky Bet Championship, England’s second tier of domestic football. They head into Tuesday’s fixture however seeking a first win in five since beating Brentford 2-1 at the back-end of November.

Albion on the other hand, after suffering the ill-fate of relegation down to League One last season, are 15th on their respective log after recording just eight wins from their 21 matches in the division. Despite this, they will be full of confidence having dispatched Nottingham Forest, Burnley and Aston Villa in the three rounds prior to Tuesday quarter-final.

The pair will meet for just the sixth time on Tuesday with Burton seeking their first win since coming from a goal down to beat Middlesbrough 2-1 in their first-encounter in the FA Cup 3rd Round in January 2011.

LEICESTER CITY VS MANCHESTER CITY – THE KING POWER STADIUM

The latest fiery instalment between Leicester City and Manchester City is lined up for fans across the globe on Tuesday. The Foxes head into their second League Cup quarter-final in successive seasons in the hope that lightning really does not strike twice in the same place.

City were their opponents at the same stage almost exactly a year ago, to the day, when Pep Guardiola’s side overcame a penalty shoot-out to book their spot in the last four in a drama-filled evening in the Midlands that saw Jamie Vardy fire in a stoppage time spot-kick of his own to send the game into extra-time after Bernardo Silva had given the visitors a 26th minute lead.

Leicester have recorded just three wins in their last eleven matches in all competitions, a run that has seen them slip into the bottom half of the Premier League table. Claude Puel’s side currently sit 12th and are without a win in their last three having been beaten 1-0 at Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Man City head into this midweek clash in the unfamiliar position of 2nd place in England’s top-flight. The defending Carabao Cup champions were beaten for the first time in the league last weekend by Chelsea but bounced back to beat German outfit Hoffenheim, booking their place in the UEFA Champions League knock-out phase before a hard-fought 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday kept the pressure on leaders Liverpool.

The Citizens have won the last four meetings with Leicester including the corresponding fixture in the Premier League last season when Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne were both on the scoresheet in a 2-0 victory.

Leicester’s last success over City was back in December 2016 during their dismal title defence. Jamie Vardy scored a stunning hat-trick that evening as Claudio Ranieri’s side came away 4-2 winners.

Sergio Aguero scored four second-half goals the last time the teams faced off, although the Argentinian is expected not expected to feature as he remains sidelined through injury.
