Oscar Piastri will be eager to be crowned as the 2025 Formula One world champion by clinching the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix title for the first time in his career.

The McLaren driver secured a podium spot at the Qatar Grand Prix on 30 November, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Piastri started on the first grid, and he went on to finish second, while also winning the sprint event, which saw him leave Lusail with 26 points, having achieved his 25th podium in Formula One.
Formula One title ambitions
The Australian racing driver is now placed third on the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 392 points with one race left.
However, Piastri is 16 points behind of leader, Lando Norris of McLaren and four points behind second-placed Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.
Why Piastri could win the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The 24-year-old displayed some of his best driving at the recent Qatar Grand Prix - winning the sprint event and narrowly missing out on the race, finishing second behind Verstappen after starting on the first grid.
Having already seven races this season, Piastri has what it takes to clinch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix title and possibly win the Formula One world championship if Norris, and Verstappen underperform in the UAE.
What did he say?
"We had the pace for the win today, we just didn't make the right call," Piastri said after the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix.
"I tried my best to catch Max (Verstappen), and we left it all out there, so it's painful not to get the win. Final push next week, I'll try and drive like I did this weekend and see what comes."
