Everton chase ‘double’ against Newcastle

2019/20 Premier League

Round 24

21-23 January

Everton will look to complete a league ‘double’ over Newcastle United when the teams meet at Goodison Park on Tuesday 21 January 2020, kick-off at 19:30. The match is one of 10 spread across the midweek of 21-23 January for the 24th round of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce

Everton are unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches at Goodison and most recently claimed a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the famous ground. The Toffees will look to make their home venue a fortress for the rest of the season.

“You look at our league results in the last few weeks and we’ve been doing really well since December and it’s good to carry that on,” said manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Newcastle’s last away match was a 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Magpies continuing to punch above their weight in the Premier League.

“I’ve just got on with my job, and tried to do the best I can and keep taking the club forward. It’s that bit of quality that we need,” said manager Steve Bruce, who is hoping for a signing to boost the squad in the January transfer market.
