2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 26

Liverpool v Norwich City

Anfield
Liverpool, England
Saturday, 19 February 2022
Kick-off is at 15h00

Liverpool will be looking to keep their Premier League title challenge alive when they welcome Norwich to Anfield on Saturday, February 19.

The Reds are the only team that stands a realistic chance of catching Manchester City as they trail the league leaders by nine points with a game in hand.

Jurgen Klopp's side beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor on February 13 to make it four wins on the spin and they are seeking a sixth consecutive victory over the Canaries, who last came out on top in this fixture back in April 1994.

Klopp praised the performance of his players at Burnley in adverse weather conditions after they dealt with the driving rain and swirling winds inside the stadium.

"I am absolutely delighted with the way we played the circumstances, it was so tricky," the German said in his post-match press conference.

"Only if you stood on the pitch I think you could really feel the wind to the whole extent, because where we were in front of the stand, it didn't feel that bad but on the pitch it was ridiculous because it came from all directions.

"Today, complete adults' football was needed and that's what the boys delivered. I am really happy about that."

Newcastle's recent resurgence has plunged the Norfolk outfit back into the relegation mire and a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to the Citizens on February 12 arrested a three-match unbeaten run for Dean Smith's men.

The Canaries made too many mistakes against City and Smith will look to address that issue ahead of their trip to Merseyside.

"Our season won't be defined by playing against Man City, as not a lot of other team's seasons will be as well," he was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"We went into the game believing we could hurt and upset them but we also knew that we couldn't make many mistakes and we did tonight, so that has cost us.

"We'll regroup and get ready for Liverpool and make sure that we limit those mistakes against them."
