Matchday 24
West Ham United v Arsenal
London Stadium
London, England
Sunday, 11 February 2024
Kick-off is at 16h00

Arsenal will look to keep the pressure on their title rivals when they lock horns with West Ham in a local derby at the London Stadium on Sunday, February 11.

The Gunners closed within two points of Liverpool in third place after beating the Premier League leaders 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on February 4.

Mikel Arteta's side remain deadlocked with Manchester City (2nd) on 49 points, having seen the defending champions claim a 3-1 comeback win against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on February 5.

Aston VIlla hammered rock-bottom Sheffield United at Bramall Lane to climb back into the top four at the expense of Tottenham, who dropped down to fifth after being held to a 2-2 draw by Everton at Goodison Park.

The Hammers went down 3-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford on February 4 to make it six games without a win as the Red Devils leapfrogged them into sixth position.

David Moyes' side are now just one point clear of Brighton (8th), who arrested a three-match winless streak with a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at the Amex.

In team news, the hosts are almost back at full strength, with Michail Antonio (knee) and Lucas Paqueta (leg) definitely unavailable, while Alphonse Areola (facial injury) is likely to play. The visitors are missing several first-team members as Jurrien Timber (knee), Fabio Vieira (groin), Oleksandr Zinchenko (leg), Thomas Partey (thigh) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (international duty) are all ruled out, although Bukayo Saka (ankle) and Gabriel Jesus (knee) could be in contention to start.

Moyes has challenged his players to rediscover the form that saw them push for UEFA Champions League football after winning five of their eight games in December.

"We have reasons to be optimistic," the Scot said. "We have to try and get back into the form we were in prior to the start of the New Year.

"We played really well in December and won some really big games, and now we have to do it again. The Premier League will always have ups and downs.

"Hopefully, with our performance today, we'll get a bit closer to our usual form. But we're disappointed we didn't take anything from the game."

Arteta expressed pride in his players for a remarkable performance against the Reds and hailed the home supporters for the part they played in the big victory.

"It was an extraordinary game, I think it was an incredible performance from the players and our people, the atmosphere that we generated in the stadium is the best I've seen this season," The Spaniard said.

"We demanded that, we had to go to a different level and connect it again to the demands that this league has in every game and they have responded in an unbelievable way and I think the players left absolutely everything.

"They put their heart and soul into every ball and I can not be any prouder because I know how difficult it is to beat this team, how much you have to suffer."
