Real Madrid have the chance to reclaim top spot in La Liga for 48 hours at least when they host Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu in the late kick-off on Saturday, February 14.
Los Blancos are the in-form team in the league after winning their last six matches to close right up on the heels of arch-rivals Barcelona, who dropped three points in a 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad last month.
Alvaro Arbeloa's side ground out a 2-0 victory against Valencia on February 8 to maintain the one-point gap to the league leaders, while pulling away from third-placed Atletico Madrid after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis.
With Barca only in action on Monday, February 16 against Girona, Real could go two points clear at the summit with their sixth straight win over Sociedad, who last won this fixture on 2 May 2023 (2-0).
Erreala have emerged as potential European contenders after an upturn in fortunes which has seen them make an unbeaten start to the new year.
Pellegrino Matarazzo's side ran out convincing 3-1 victors against Elche on February 7 to go undefeated in their last seven games and gain ground on Celta Vigo (7th) and Espanyol (6th).
The Basque outfit found themselves just three points behind the Parakeets in eighth position ahead of their matchday 23 clash with Villarreal on Monday, February 9.

Arbeloa praised his players for another solid performance after the defence kept their third clean sheet of 2026, highlighting their unity and commitment as crucial aspects to achieving success this season.
"That's one of the things. Of course, we can raise our level of play in terms of brilliance and other aspects. We surely have a lot of room for improvement," he said.
"A team is built on solidity, on staying united, on commitment. We showed it in La Ceramica, and we did today as well. I don't think [Thibaut] Courtois had to make any saves.
"That's the path the players are following: helping each other, commitment, dedication, sacrifice... All those values that I think are very important for the team, the players demonstrated them again today, and from there, we just need to keep improving."
