BRISTOL CITY VS BOLTON WANDERERS – ASHTON GATE STADIUM

Bristol City have had a solid season so far and will see Friday’s match as a real opportunity to book their place in the famed 5th round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2001. The Robins currently sit seventh in the Championship, just one place and two points outside the playoffs.

Lee Johnson’s side are unbeaten in 11 matches since losing out to the league leaders Leeds United in November and have won all of their last five in all competitions including a 1-0 win over Premier League outfit Huddersfield in the previous round.

Since suffering relegation from England’s top-flight in 2012, Bolton Wanderers have represented somewhat of a lost soul, bouncing between the Championship and League One in recent seasons. The Trotters find themselves second-from-bottom this time around and face the real prospect of relegation once again.

Bolton battered Walsall 5-2 in the last round courtesy of a second-half josh Magennis hat-trick – the only win that manager Phil Parkinson has mustered from his last 19 attempts since securing a 1-0 win over Derby County way back in September.

The pair clashed as recently as the 12th of January when Matt Taylor and Kasey Palmer scored within two-minutes of each other to seal a come-from-behind victory for the hosts Bristol City after Will Buckley had given the visitors the lead with his second goal for Bolton against Bristol in as many appearances.

Bristol have lost just one of their previous six meetings with Bolton since the former won promotion back to the Championship in 2015 including three successive victories at Ashton Gate, most memorably when they put six past a hapless Wanderers outfit in March 2016.

ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER UNITED – THE EMIRATES STADIUM

The FA Cup’s most successful side, Arsenal, are set to take on the Premier League’s standout team Manchester United in an epic encounter at the Emirates. Unai Emery’s men bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic 2-0 victory over fellow Londoners Chelsea, narrowing the gap between themselves and the Blues to just three points in the process. It is over their shoulder however where the Gunners are nervously glancing.

Manchester United were an astounding seven points adrift of Arsenal when Ole Gunner Solskjaer was hailed as an emergency appointment to replace Jose Mourinho, however after six wins from six in the league the Red Devils find themselves behind only on goal difference ahead of their monstrous meeting in the FA Cup on Friday. United booked their place in the 4th round at the expense of Reading thanks to a pair of first half goals from Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku respectively.

United have won just two of their last six visits to the capital to take on Arsenal, including a 3-1 win in the corresponding league fixture last campaign. The duo played out to a thrilling 2-2 draw at Old Trafford earlier this season when they faced off in December.

Arsenal have won just three of their previous 16 matches against Man United – a run which began with that famous 8-2 demolition in August 2011.

The last time they met in the FA Cup, former Red Devil’s frontman Danny Welbeck scored what turned out to be the winner at his old stomping ground in the 6th round in 2015.
