2019-20 UEFA Champions League

18-19  August 2020

There will be three German coaches in the semi-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League.
It is the first time in the competition's history that three coaches from the same country have been in the last four at the same time and with two games to go, there is the possibility that there could be an all-German final for the first time since 2013 when Jupp Heynckes and Jurgen Klopp went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium.

Julian Nagelsmann's RB Leipzig beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the quarter-finals while Thomas Tuchel led French club Paris Saint Germain past Atalanta by the same scoreline. Hansi Flick's Bayern Munich thumped Barcelona 8-2 as they near in on a sixth Champions League crown.
“It’s a wonderful moment of success for German football,” said German national team and DFB academy director Oliver Bierhoff as per the club's official website.

“We’re delighted to have not only two German teams in the semi-finals, but also three German coaches and lots of our international players in the decisive phase of the competition.”

Bayern are the most recent German team to win the competition, having beaten domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the 2013 final. The two clubs along with Hamburger SV are the only Bundesliga teams to have lifted Europe's most coveted club title.
