The Blades are yet to win a game all season and sit bottom of the Premier League standings having accumulated a mere two points from 14 matches. One of those points came this past weekend in a result that ended an eight-game losing streak.

Despite being down to 10-men, Sheffield opened the scoring away to Brighton and Hove-Albion only for a late Danny Welbeck goal to secure a 1-1 draw for the hosts, subsequently denying the Blades their first win of the campaign.

In stark contrast, Everton head into the Boxing Day test on a three-game winning run. The Toffees beat Arsenal 2-1 in their most recent match to climb up to fourth on the standings, five points behind league leaders and fierce rivals Liverpool.

"We did very well in our last few games - brilliant performances and fantastic results," said Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti. "We showed more consistency. This season we started well, then we had a difficult moment, but right now I'm really pleased.

"The position in the table is really good. But as I said last week it is not the end of the season, we have to keep fighting but this was a top, top performance."

Everton won the corresponding fixture last season 1-0 thanks to a solitary strike from Brazilian forward Richarlison.
