Kim Si-woo will be looking to emulate Johnny Miller by winning back-to-back American Express titles in La Quinta, California USA.

Miller remains the only golfer to win back-to-back American Express trophies having done so in 1976 when it was still known as Bob Hope Desert Classic.

Si-woo shot a final-round 8-under 64 to win by one stroke over Patrick Cantlay and claimed his third PGA Tour title.

The South Korean star recorded his first win on the PGA Tour at the 2016 Wyndham Championship and at 21, he was the season's youngest winner.

His second win on the PGA Tour came at the 2017 Players Championship, beating Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen by three shots with a bogey-free 69 in his final round,

Therefore, Si-woo became the second Korean to win the title after K. J. Choi in 2011 and ranked 73rd in the world prior to the Players Championship.

Si-woo was the second-lowest ranked player to win the tournament, with 2002 winner Craig Perks ranked outside 200th before his win.

“We're just working on backswing and, like, a more straight takeaway,” Si-woo said when asked about his relationship with his coach Claude Harmon recently.

“I was a little inside before, and so he just fixed that, and just little things like that. When I had the chance to win (previously), I didn't play very well. I had a lot of ups and downs as I tried to play aggressive and that actually made me lose.

"My coach (Harmon) talked to me about it a lot and, even this week, he told me there will be chances anytime and to keep waiting and be patient, keep composure, and believe in yourself. That's what I tried to do.”

Arnold Palmer is the most decorated player in the history of The American Express having won it five times.
