Matchday 20

Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
London, England

Tottenham will attempt to put a dent in Arsenal's title challenge when they go head to head in the 193rd North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, January 15.

The Gunners took home the derby spoils in the reverse fixture on October 1, emerging 3-1 victors at the Emirates Stadium to give them newfound confidence after Manchester United had halted their perfect start to the season.

Mikel Arteta's side dropped points for only the third time this term in a goalless draw with Newcastle on Tuesday, which allowed Manchester City to cut the gap down to five points.

However, the league leaders remain unbeaten in their last 11 games and will be seeking a fourth win in five derby encounters against their arch-rivals.

Arteta has urged his players to keep building momentum after another fine performance despite not getting the result they wanted against the Magpies.

"The way we are playing at the moment, we have to focus on that," the Spaniard told Arsenal Media. "Results will be a consequence of that. If we play the way we played today, we will win a lot of games, and that's what we have to try to do.

"I'm so proud of the boys, the way we played, the way we dominated the game, the approach we had from the beginning and where we took he game. We didn't concede anything I think."

Spurs made a disappointing return to action after the World Cup break, drawing 2-2 with Brentford on Boxing Day before slipping to a 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa on New Year's Day.

But a convincing 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday saw Antonio Conte's team close within two points of the top four in fifth position, having dropped out of the Champions League places during the festive period.

Conte was buoyed by the performances of youngsters Bryan Gil, Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr, who rose to the occasion in the absence of key first-team regulars.

"There were so many positives, especially, I'm happy for the young players," the Italian told SPURSPLAY. "We are facing this period with important players injured and you know very well, to play at this level, you need all the players available.

"Despite this, tonight, we showed with Gil, he's going to improve game by game. I was happy for Skippy, very happy for Pape Sarr, his impact was really important. Also, the first game (Premier League debut) for Harvey White."
