In what is billing up to be one of the fixtures of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations so far, reigning champions Ivory Coast and Egypt will now do battle in their respective Quarter-final assignment at the popular Stade Adrar on Saturday.
The Elephants were at their goal scoring best during their 3-0 win against Burkina Faso in the Round of 16 at Stade de Marrakech on Tuesday night.
Burkina Faso had no answer to the Ivorian’s relentless attacks and stubborn defence as Amad Diallo, Yan Diomande and Bazoumana Toure were on target in Ouahat Sidi Brahim.
As for Egypt, the Pharaohs recorded a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Benin at Stade Adrar earlier this week. With the game tied at 1-1 in regulation time, extra-time efforts by Yasser Ibrahim and Mohamed Salah separated the two nations in Agadir.
The Elephants will now hope to kick on with the hope of bagging their fourth AFCON title, while Egypt could claim their record eighth continental crown overall.

Reflecting on his side’s win over Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Faé expressed his delight toward his players and highlighted their character against a tricky Burkina Faso side.
“I really liked our reaction when we lost the ball. Every time possession was lost, the players reacted immediately,” Fae said.
“They were under pressure at times and put in difficult situations, but they made a real effort to recover the ball very, very quickly. There were many interceptions, duels won and balls regained directly from the opponent’s feet.
“That aspect of our game pleased me a lot. What truly makes me happy is that beyond individual performances, it was the strength of the team in entirety that really stood out tonight.”
