Kick-off is at 13h00

Real Betis will be targeting nothing less than all three points when they face La Liga's bottom club Real Oviedo at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere on Saturday, January 10 in the early kick-off.

Betis were left licking their wounds after suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat to Real Madrid in their first match of 2026 on January 4 - only their fourth loss of the season.

Manuel Pellegrini's side ended 2025 occupying the final European berth in sixth position after running out convincing 4-0 victors over Getafe on December 21.

Three of the Andalusian outfit's four defeats have come at the hands of teams in the top four (Barcelona and Atletico Madrid being the other two), while they drew 2-2 with third-placed Villarreal.

The Carbayones have not enjoyed their return to Spain's top flight after winning just two of their opening 18 matches since being promoted from Segunda Division via the playoffs.

Guillermo Almada became their third head coach on December 16, replacing the sacked Luis Carrion, who himself had succeeded Veljko Paunovic on October 9, with the Serbian being the first managerial casualty of the campaign.

Almada has made an unbeaten start to his tenure after picking up a point apiece against Celta Vigo (0-0) and Alaves (1-1), although the latter result saw Oviedo slip to the foot of the table after Levante defeated Sevilla 3-0 on January 4.

Pellegrini admitted Betis were made to pay for being disorganised in defence after Los Blancos scored two easy goals from set-pieces to go 3-1 up, which he felt swung the momentum in the hosts' favour.

"There were moments where the scoreline didn't reflect what was happening," he said. "They were winning 3–1 with two goals from set pieces.

"We were very disorganised - both goals came from headers with players completely unmarked. At the same time, we hit the woodwork twice and Courtois made a good save.

"What frustrates me most is conceding two goals from set-pieces. They can score against us, but not with players heading the ball completely unmarked in the box. A corner or a free-kick can completely unbalance a match.

"In the second half, we outplayed them. But they scored two goals, went up 3–1, and that practically ended the game. We could have pulled one back with a shot that hit the post, but there's also an element of luck."
