Two Ghanaian boxers will be in action in the opening week of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Samuel Takyi is scheduled to take part in the men's featherweight preliminary
boxing round on July 24 and his opponent is yet to be confirmed.
The 20-year-old starlet secured a spot for the 2020 Olympics through his performance at the 2020 African Olympic Qualification Tournament in Dakar, Senegal.
Takyi is hopeful that he can win a medal at the global tournament having been based in Japan’s city of Inawashiro as part of his preparations.
“Preparations here in Japan have been fantastic and I believe that will really help us when the competition starts," Takyi said.

“We have everything at our disposal to make us win laurels and we are exploiting that to the fullest. I am hopeful that we will win medals at the end of the games
Meanwhile,
Sulemanu Tetteh will participate in the men's flyweight preliminary round on July 26 as he waits to learn his opponent.
The 28-year-old competed in the men's light flyweight division in the boxing at the 2012 Olympics in London, England - losing in the first round to Jantony Ortíz of Puerto Rico.
“I learnt a lot from the 2012 Olympics and I am much more experienced now,” Tetteh said.
“I believe with the best of preparation, I will be in shape to win a medal for Ghana. I have really improved over the years, and I am committed to winning laurels for the country.
"This is an opportunity for me to make a name for myself and I want to take it.”
His compatriot Shakul Samed will take part in the men's light heavyweight preliminary round next week and he will be making his first appearance in the Olympics.
