World No.2 Ons Jabeur will aim to take a step closer to her maiden Grand Slam title when she faces Tatjana Maria in the semi-finals of Wimbledon on Thursday, July 7.

The Tunisian has already made history by reaching the last four on the London grass for the first time after beating Marie Bouzkova 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarter-finals.

Jabeur eclipsed the feat of 2021 when she became the first Arab woman to qualify for the Wimbledon quarter-finals before losing to Aryna Sabalenka in three sets.

The 27-year-old has three WTA Tour titles to her name and most recently won the 2022 Madrid Open, but she is still searching for her first Grand Slam victory.

Jabeur has paid tribute to Maria ahead of their clash, declaring the German an inspiration to make it this far in the tournament after starting a family.

"It's going to be tough to play her, she is a great friend," the No.3 seed said.

"I am really happy she is in a semi-final - look at her now, she is in a semi-final after having two babies. It is an amazing story."
