2023 Tour de France

UCI World Tour

Stage race (Grand Tour)
From France to Spain
1–23 July 2023

The 2023 Tour de France has reached its business end with cyclists battling for the trophy also known as the Coupe Omnisports.

What to know about the Coupe Omnisports

The Tour de France trophy was designed by Roger Vieillard in 1971 and it is one of the most prestigious trophies in the cycling world.

The Coupe Omnisports was designed after being commissioned by French president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (1974-1981), to renew the official pieces offered by the State.

Classification leadership

Jumbo-Visma's Jonas Vingegaard is placed at the top of the General classification (Yellow Jersey) standings.

The Danish star is followed by Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) and Ineos Grenadiers' Carlos Rodriguez who are placed second, and third respectively.

While Adam Yates of the UAE Team Emirates is currently placed fourth in the standings.

Favourites

The battle for the Coupe Omnisports is between defending champion Vingegaard and two-time winner Pogačar as things stand.

The duo finished in first and second place respectively the year before, with the positions reversed in 2021.

Rodriguez and Yates are looking to cause an upset by beating Vingegaard and Pogačar to the title with six stages left in this year's race.

Quotes

“We had a few issues with the radio as well,” Yates said after stage 15 of the 2023 Tour de France on July 16.

"I am still high up on the GC so if Tadej lets me go, then Jumbo has to chase. This could work in our favor.”

“Today was a little bit unexpected but these little things add up over three weeks. We will keep trying and hopefully in Paris, we will have yellow."
