Nikola Jokic finally clinched his first
National Basketball Association (NBA) winner's medal during the 2022/23 season.
Elusive NBA winner's medal
Jokic dominated the NBA for two terms - winning back-to-back Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolades - becoming the 13th player to win the award in consecutive seasons.
The Serbian superstar also became the second European player to win the award more than once, joining Greece's Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Boston Celtics.
However, the NBA winner's medal was the only thing missing from the Denver Nuggets center's list of accomplishments

Jokic inspired the Nuggets to their first-ever NBA Championship and he was unanimously voted as Finals MVP, and became the lowest draft pick in NBA history to win this award.
The accomplished player, who is considered one of the greatest centers of all-time, also finished the NBA Finals averaging 30.2 points, 14 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.4 blocks.
Therefore, Jokic became the first player in NBA history to lead the entire postseason in total points (600), total rebounds (269) and total assists.

"It was an amazing effort by the team. It was an ugly game," Jokic said after winning the Finals MVP accolade.
"We couldn't make shots. But at the end, we figured it out, how to defend and we scored 90 points. That's why we won. I'm just happy we won the game.
"It's good. The job is done and we can go home now."
