After seeing off Botswana in their opening match at the
Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, Algeria will hope to take charge of Group B when they take on Tunisia at Stade Pere Jego on Thursday.
Algeria were made to work for their three points against Botswana this past weekend as Ghoutia Karchouni’s 10
th minute effort separated the two sides at Stade Pere Jego.
As it stands, The Fennecs are second in Group B, with Nigeria claiming top spot after their 3-0 win against Tunisia.
Speaking ahead of the showpiece, Algeria head coach Farid Benstiti expressed his excitement at leading his nation in Morocco.
“It's true that being at this CAN gives us boundless enthusiasm because every coach is delighted to be present in a major competition and always wants to participate," Benstiti said.
As mentioned, Tunisia commenced their WAFCON bid with an opening day defeat against the Super Falcons on Sunday.
Following a one-sided affair at the popular Stade Larbi Zaouli, goals by Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide and Chinwendu Ihezuo were enough for Nigeria to power their way to top spot in Group B.
