The 2022 RBC Canadian Open is set to take place at the St. George's Golf and Country Club in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada between 9 and 12 June.
 
The tournament is co-organized by Golf Canada (formerly known as the Royal Canadian Golf Association) and the PGA Tour.
 
Established in 1904, the Canadian Open has been held annually since then, except for during World War I, World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Furthermore, it is the third oldest continuously running tournament on the tour, after The Open Championship and the US Open and the last time it was staged was in 2019.

Rory McIlroy is the defending champion having won the 2019 Canadian Open - becoming the first European golfer to win the tournament since 2010.
 
After a wait of 1,093 days and two years of cancellation due to the global pandemic, 2019 champion and world number eight Rory McIlroy returns to Canada looking to defend his crown.
 
This year's Canadian Open field which is made up of 156 players is headlined by the likes of McIlroy, Jhonattan Vegas, Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns, Matt Fitzpatrick as well as Brandt Snedeker.
 
While 10 of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking are among the top contenders who will also tee off at the St. George's Golf and Country Club, and the field will be playing for an $8.7 million purse.

"Along with great golf, fans will be treated to an incredible festival environment with terrific on-site activities including the Recipe Unlimited Fareway food and beverage experience and the RBCxMusic Concert series featuring Flo Rida (June 10) and Maroon 5 (June 11). It is the return that Canadian golf fans deserve as we get set to kick off summer.”
 
Leo Diegel is the most decorated golfer in the history of the Canadian Open having won it a record four times in 1924, 1925, 1928 and 1929.
