Aleix Espargaro will be determined to record his second win of the current season when he takes part in the Dutch Grand Prix.

The Aprilia rider, who hails from Granollers Spain, finished eighth in last year's Dutch MotoGP having started ninth on the grid.

Having won one race in the 2022 term which was the Argentine MotoGP, Espargaro came close to securing a podium finish at the recent German MotoGP on June 19 - finishing fourth.

The former Ducati rider began the race from fourth on the grid, but he had tyre issues which hindered him from securing a podium finish.

Quartararo won the 2022 German MotoGP and he was followed by the Ducati duo of Johann Zarco and Jack Miller at the Sachsenring in Hohenstein-Ernstthal.

Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Quratarao is still at the top and he is followed by Espargaro and Zarco respectively as the race for the MotoGP world title continues.

Espargaro will be hoping to reduce the gap between himself and his Quartararo by winning the Dutch MotoGP for the first time in his career.

“From when I changed the front tyre on the grid and started on the formation lap, I started to feel a lot of vibration on the front,” Espargarao said when he reflected on the German MotoGP.

"I was very angry that I had no time obviously to stop and change the tyre. [The same thing] happened to more than seven riders on Friday. Also to Mir in qualifying. My tyres were always perfect [all weekend before the race] but today was unbelievable.

"A lot of vibration, a lot of chattering.  The first 6-7 laps with a new rear tyre I could manage quite well, but then it was impossible. My best sector during the weekend was sector 3, the fast part of the track, and it was impossible for me to ride," he continued.

“It was a question of avoiding a crash all the time and it was surprising because I was lapping very, very slow. But even like this, I was racing for the podium."

Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Aprilia respectively.
