World No.3 Alexander Zverev will be aiming to reach his first-ever
French Open final when he goes up against 13-time champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals on Friday, June 3.
The German is making his eighth straight appearance on the Paris clay and went as far as the last four in 2021 before falling to Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets.
Zverev reached back-to-back quarter-finals in 2018 and 2019, although he will be hoping to go all the way this time around in an attempt to win his maiden Grand Slam title.
The 25-year-old dropped just three sets en route to the semis, although he had to battle back from two sets down to beat Sebastian Baez 2-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 7-5 in the second round.
Zverev set up a 10th meeting with Nadal after knocking out teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz in the last eight with a 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 win and he acknowledged even harder challenges lay ahead.
"Alcaraz, it's almost impossible to beat him. I knew I had to play my best tennis from the beginning. With his level of confidence, it would have been difficult to come back. I know I had to stay calm all the match long, whatever the score," he said.
"Now I have the No 1 in the world or the 13-time winner here. Things don't get easier. Let's just enjoy their match now, it's going to be very special."
