Brooks Koepka will be keen to win his third US Open title and go level with Tiger Woods, and Hale Irwin who have won the event three times each.

What to know about Koepka

The American superstar has clinched 18 professional tournaments including five major tournaments namely, US Open (two) and PGA Championship (three).

Koepka, who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf in June 2022, became world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and remained for 47 weeks after winning the 2018 CJ Cup.

News

The accomplished golfer will be making his return to PGA Tour having won the 2023 PGA Championship in May as he became the first LIV Golf player to win a major championship.

Koepka also became the third golfer to win three or more PGA Championships in the stroke play era, joining Jack Nicklaus (five wins) and Woods (four).

Why Koepka is among the favourites

The 33-year-old, who is currently placed 13th on the OWGR, tends to bring his A-game when he competes in the US Open having clinched back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Since then Koepka has finished second, fourth, and 55th in the US Open, and he will be confident of clinching his third title after winning the 2023 PGA Championship where was in top form.

Quotes

"I definitely wouldn't have won, I don't think, if that [The Masters] didn't happen," Koepka said after winning the 2023 PGA Championship.

"Definitely take it and keep using it going forward for each event, each major, any time I'm in contention. "I've always learned more from the four times I finished second than, I guess, the five times I've won now.

"I think failure is how you learn. You get better from it. You realize what mistakes you've made. "Really, I think the big key is just being open and honest with yourself, and if you can do that, you'll be miles ahead of everybody else."
