World No. 14 Shane Lowry will be looking to make history at the
Canadian Open from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8.
No Irishman has won the title in the third-oldest continuously running tournament on the circuit, although Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy boasts two victories.
Lowry's best result at the Canadian Open came in 2019 when he finished tied for second place, seven strokes behind McIlroy, who claimed his first win.
The 38-year-old has only missed the cut twice in 13 tournament appearances in 2025 and fell just short of his fourth career win on two occasions, coming second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and tied for second at the Truist Championship.
Lowry was paired with Ben Griffin in the first round of the Memorial Tournament last week, with the American going on to finish four strokes behind Scottie Scheffler in second place.
The Irishman had words of encouragement for Griffin after his flying opening round, saying: "I told him when we finished, keep it going, things will turn around for you pretty soon.
"He pretty much holed everything he looked at today. It was good. We bounced off each other, we all played really nicely, and it's nice when you get a good group like that.
"My 3-under doesn't look that great beside his 7-under, but 3-under is a good score out there on this course, it's pretty difficult.
"I hit the ball in play a lot today, I hit lot of fairways, which allowed me to hit a lot of greens, so I took advantage of some good driving today."
