As the latter stages of the ever-popular
French Open rolls on, Lorenzo Musetti and Frances Tiafoe will do battle in a keenly anticipated quarter-final clash on Tuesday.
Musetti, who faced Holger Rune in the previous round, needed a 7-5 3-6 6-3 6-2 score over a span of three hours to bypass the stubborn Dane.
However, Tiafoe cruised to a straight set win against Daniel Altmaier in round four, as he continued his fine form in the competition.
Reflecting on the tie against Rune, Musetti expressed that he needed to be at his best to see off the 22-year-old.
"Last night I was dreaming of this match against Holger and I was playing at that level.
“I need to be very good, and I am really proud of myself tonight," said Musetti.
In weighing up his chances at Roland Garros, Tiafoe believes that he has a chance at gold as the tournaments ‘Dark Horse’
"I see myself as a dark horse. I'm playing at a very high speed, taking time away from my opponents, hitting the ball far in front,” Tiafoe said.
“I believe I'm playing hard court tennis on clay, and that's something that the guys who dominate this surface don't quite like. I have to commit to my style and stick with it.
"My shots are going deep, my movement is great, and I feel everything flows. My perception is that when I'm like this, the sky is my limit.”
