As a rookie heading into the keenly anticipated 24h Le Mans race, Porsche works driver Laurin Heinrich is beaming with confidence alongside the team who finished second last year.
Porsche came up short in the 2025 edition of the endurance race, finishing +14.084 behind AF Corse in their Porsche 9RD 4.6L Turbo V8 engine.
Heinrich will thus make his debut in the LMP2 class with no experience in the Oreca 07, given that Porsche won't feature a Hypercar on the grid this time around. The 24-year-old will head into the race with three wins under his belt, two being with Porsche Penske Motorsport and one with JDC-Miller Motorsports at the IMSA SportsCar Championship – GTP.

Speaking ahead of 24h Le Mans, Heinrich spoke highly of the team support at Porsche and at the same time, expressed no fear at competing in the gruelling race.
“It’s not often the situation nowadays that I find myself being a rookie, right?” Heinrich said.
“But I love it, you know, for me, obviously, I’m a Porsche factory driver, and unfortunately, Porsche is not on the Hypercar grid this year, but I still really wanted to make my first experience at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“There was no space in GT, so the only chance for me was to be in LMP2, but I think to do my first Le Mans here in LMP2 in prototypes is a great opportunity, and I have a strong team around me.
“You know, I go for racing, they’re so familiar with the car, they’re so well known and successful also in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so for me, being a rookie, I’m not afraid of this situation.”
