George Russell heads to Spain determined to deliver a strong result in the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and remain firmly in title contention.

The Mercedes driver finished 12th in the chaotic Monaco Grand Prix after picking up a pitlane speeding penalty and struggling with traffic in the final stages.
Despite the disappointing result, Russell showed strong pace early in the race and remains confident in the team’s direction heading into this weekend.

Russell sits third in the Drivers’ Championship with 88 points after six races.
The British racing driver trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli (156) and teammate Lewis Hamilton (90).

Russell returns to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where he delivered a strong fourth place in the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix.
The Mercedes Junior Team product has already secured one victory this season in Australia and he will be highly motivated to deliver another win.

“I still very much believe in myself and that we’re going to be fighting for race wins until the end of the year, but right now, it is tough," Russell said after the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.
