AC Milan will be aiming to keep their lead atop the 2020-21 Serie A standings intact when they host Parma at the San Siro on Sunday evening.

Rossoneri maintained a five point advantage following a 2-1 win over Sampdoria in their most recent outing. Milan remain unbeaten in the league this season, having won eight of their 10 matches thus far.

Milan keep surprising head coach Stefano Pioli who was forced to field a very young team away to Sampdoria, with key stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer and Rafael Leão nursing injuries.

"We were missing three important players, but the team has always taken the opportunity, even in negative situations, to show that they are strong, that this is a cohesive group," said Pioli.

"We had a very young team on the field, but they continue to surprise me with their maturity. We didn't let our heads drop when things were going badly and we're not getting carried away now."

Despite Milan's fast start, Pioli has maintained that his team are not favourites for the Scudetto this season.

"How is it possible to think that Juventus are still not the favourites after nine successive titles, or that Inter Milan cannot challenge with investments such as Achraf Hakimi and Arturo Vidal. But we must continue to grow and improve."

Parma were held to a goalless draw by Benevento last weekend to remain in 16th spot on the Serie A standings, four points above the relegation zone.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 3-1 win for the hosts. Parma took the lead through Jasmin Kurtic but second-half goals from Franck Kessie, Alessio Romagnoli  and Hakan Çalhanoğlu secured all three points for the hosts.
