2021/22 English Premier League

Matchday 29

Brighton & Hove Albion v Liverpool

American Express Community Stadium
Brighton and Hove, England
Saturday, 12 March 2022
Kick-off is at 12h30

Liverpool will be targeting another three points in their quest for the Premier League title when they visit Brighton on Saturday, March 12.

Jurgen Klopp's side are the sole challengers to Manchester City and a 1-0 win over West Ham last weekend maintained the six-point gap to the league leaders.

The Reds do have a game in hand on the Citizens and they head to the south coast on the back of a seven-match winning streak.

Klopp insists it is important to keep getting results even when performances aren't great as the Merseysiders attempt to ramp up the pressure on City in the final three months of the season.

"We will come to that point pretty soon probably that when you win seven - or for us, 12 in all competitions in a row - then you cannot not only win the ones where you are flying," the German said after their victory against the Hammers.

"Today we were obviously not flying, we had to dig really deep and that's what the boys did. It is necessary to get something out of this season that we keep on going and [there is] no time to rest, so just keep going."

The Seagulls have really struggled of late, with a 2-1 reverse at Newcastle last Saturday making it four defeats on the spin.

It is in stark contrast to their early-season form, when Graham Potter's men won four of their opening five encounters and lost just twice in 10 outings at the start of the campaign.

Potter stressed that his players need to keep grafting in a bid overturn their fortunes after admitting there is still a lot to improve upon.

"Hard work, that's what it is. Although my name is Potter, there's no magic wand. You just have to work hard," he said after the clash at St James' Park.

"The players' effort was there, they gave everything and were disappointed because we were nearly there in the first half, but that's not enough at this level.

"You've got to be honest always, which is what we always try to be. In terms of our performance there are always positives there but there are also things you can do better."
