Rory McIlroy will be keen to become the first European golfer to win The Players Championship twice this weekend.
What to know about McIlroy
The Northern Irish superstar is a four-time major champion, winning the 2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship and 2014
PGA Championship.
McIlroy is a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking, and has spent over 100 weeks in that position during his career.

The accomplished golfer was in action at the recent 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational in Bay Hill, Florida, USA where he finished 21st.
McIlroy is currently placed second on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) as he looks to reclaim the top spot by winning The Players Championship.
Why McIlroy is among the favourites
The three-time PGA Tour Player of the Year will be returning to a comfortable venue in TPC Sawgrass where he won the 2019 Players Championship.
The defining moment that day for McIlroy came at the 15th hole, where after a drive that landed in the fairway bunker, he blasted his approach to 13 feet to set up an unlikely birdie.
This season, McIlroy has done well in the DP World Tour where he captured his fourth Hero Dubai Desert Classic and placed second in the Dubai Invitational.
"I would have loved to have won last week," McIlroy said after finishing second at the 2024 Dubai Invitational.
"But even with all those mistakes I made, the fact that I still had a one-shot lead going down the last, it says to me that my game is in really good shape.
"I hit the ball well. I felt like I putted well for the most part and if I do the same again this week on a golf course that I know really well, I should have a good chance."
