Matchday 29

Aston Villa v Chelsea FC

Villa Park

Birmingham, England

Wednesday, 4 March 2026

Kick-off is at 19h30

Aston Villa will be keen to humble their Premier League top-four rivals, Chelsea FC, when the two teams clash at Villa Park on Wednesday, 4 March.

Current Form

Villans suffered a 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at home on 27 February and they are winless in their last two matches in the league.

However, Villa are undefeated in their last two home matches in the Premier League, having recorded one draw and one victory at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Chelsea suffered a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal away on 1 March as they extended their winless run to three games in the English top-tier.

The defeat to Arsenal also ended their two-match unbeaten run on the road, having registered two back-to-back victories as the visitors.

Team News

Aston Villa have no suspension issues, but Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, Youri Tielemans and Harvey Elliott are all sidelined due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's current injury list includes Marc Cucurella, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens, Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo, and Filip Jorgensen, while their teammates Mykhaylo Mudryk and Pedro Neto are suspended.

Quotes

“We must achieve our objectives creating a great atmosphere in Villa Park, a great atmosphere here because they were here with us," Villa manager Unai Emery said after his side's defeat to Wolves.

“And, as well, trying to support the players, help the players and again recover our good form, good mood. I am being positive because we are in the average but, of course, we must continue analysing, being so, so demanding how we can improve things and recover again our confidence.

“We have two competitions, really motivated, Europa League and Premier League and we are in a very good position to try to enjoy the way we’re doing.”

Head-to-Head

Villa edged out Chelsea 2-1 in their last Premier League meeting, which was at Stamford Bridge in December 2025.

Therefore, Villans are undefeated in their last six league matches against Blues, having recorded two successive wins.
