Tony Finau returns to the scene of his former glory as he goes in search of his first PGA Tour win since 2023 at the Houston Open.
The American has previously enjoyed success at Memorial Park after he carded a 16-under 264 to beat Tyson Alexander by four strokes in 2022.
Finau would challenge for the title again in 2024 when he ended up one shot behind winner Stephan Jaeger in T2 and was back the following year, although he finished well off the pace in T32.
The 36-year-old would endure a disappointing 2025 which delivered just one top 10 - a T5 at the Genesis Invitational - and he's yet to achieve that this year.
Finau's best showing came at the Farmers Insurance Open (T11), and he made a good start at the Players Championship before shooting over par in each of the final three rounds to finish T70.
The six-time PGA Tour winner shot 3-under 69 on the opening day at TPC Sawgrass, which included eight birdies, five pars, and five bogeys.
"I was cruising early, and then just got punched in the mouth in the middle of the round with a bunch of bogeys, kind of jumped on the bogey train," he said.
"Really happy with the poise I had to just finish off where I started and shoot a few under. I was just happy the roller coaster ended up moving this direction at the end and not down."
