Jordan Spieth will be eager to win the Charles Schwab Challenge for the second time when he tees off at the Colonial Country Club.

The American star won this tournament in 2016 and he has also finished as the runner-up three times including last year's event.

Spieth is currently ranked ninth on the Official World Golf Rankings and he is the former world number one having won three major titles.

In 2015, Spieth finished as the runner-up alongside Jason Bohn and Brandt Snedeker in the Colonial National Invitation (Charles Schwab Challenge) as Chris Kirk won by one stroke.

The 2016 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year then won this event in 2016 after he birdied six holes on the back nine on Sunday to see off the challenge of Harris English by three strokes.

Spieth, Jon Rahm and Sean O'Hair finished as runner-up as Kevin Kisner won the tournament by one stroke in 2017 when it was known as the Dean & DeLuca Invitational between 2016 and 2017.

The 28-year-old finished 34th at the 2022 PGA Championship on May 22 and he is among the favourites to win this weekend's Charles Schwab Challenge.

“They’re both just great to play with. They’re quick. They’re positive," Spieth said at the 2022 PGA Championship about playing alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

"I think you’ve got to embrace it and have fun and recognise these are the kind of pairings I’ll get to tell my kid about some day: ‘I got to play with Tiger in a major.’

“Last year, you weren’t sure if that was ever going to happen again. I know it’s great for golf, but selfishly it’s pretty exciting to be able to play these events growing up with the guy that you idolised.”

Ben Hogan is the most successful golfer in the history of the Charles Schwab Challenge having won the tournament a record five times.
