Lando Norris will look to build momentum in his title charge when the eighth round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the Monaco Grand Prix, is held at the Circuit de Monaco on the afternoon of Sunday 25 May.

McLaren-Mercedes driver Norris struck back against teammate Oscar Piastri in the battle for the Drivers’ Championship this past weekend. The Australian had overshadowed Norris with three straight wins in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Miami, but at the Emilia-Romagna GP, Norris managed to overhaul Piastri in the race and finish second behind winner Max Verstappen of Red Bull-Racing Honda.

"We had a good little battle at the end between Oscar and myself which was tense, but always good fun,” said Norris after the race, having struck an important psychological blow against his teammate.

"A good race - for us as a team, second and third is great. Of course you would love to be up there fighting against Max. But they [Red Bull] were too good for us today."

As a result of the Emilia-Romagna GP, Norris has cut Piastri’s lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship to 13 points. The Australian has 146, with Norris on 133. The McLaren duo will need to be wary of Verstappen, who is just a further nine points behind in third place.

Norris will be looking to win the Monaco GP for the first time in his career. The British driver’s best result in the principality was a third-place finish in 2021, while last year he came home in fourth place behind Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Piastri (McLaren), and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari).
