Jorge Martin heads to Mugello determined to recover by winning the Italian MotoGP after a difficult Catalan MotoGP weekend.
Most recent race
Martin had a tough time at the Catalan MotoGP on May 17, failing to register a single point.
The 28-year-old crashed in the Sprint and was involved in a collision with teammate Raúl Fernández in the main race, forcing him to retire (NC).
MotoGP ambitions
The Spaniard sits second in the 2026 MotoGP Riders' standings with 127 points.
The man nicknamed the Martinator is 15 points behind championship leader Marco Bezzecchi as the title battle heats up.
Why Martin could win the Italian MotoGP
Mugello has always been one of the Martinator's strongest circuits; he took pole position and set the all-time lap record here in 2024 and has consistently been fast at the track.
After the frustration in Catalan, Spain, the 2014 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup champion will be eager to fight back in front of a big crowd.
Quotes
“Firstly, I’d like to thank the team because after four crashes between Friday and Saturday, they never stopped working and they are doing an incredible job," Martin said after the 2026 Calatan MotoGP.
"I had two more crashes today – I’m struggling to find the limit on this track. It’s true that I had made a huge step forward between Friday and Saturday, and I expected to be able to battle for the podium.
"The important thing is to understand that behind every crash there is human error, so we need to continue working as we have up to now.”
