Marc Marquez will aim to put a difficult Spanish weekend behind him and win the French MotoGP for the fourth time in his career.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider had a rollercoaster time at the 2026 Spanish MotoGP at Jerez (Round 4) on 26 April.
Marquez won the Sprint in dramatic flag-to-flag conditions earning 12 points, but crashed out early in the main race while running near the front, forcing him to retire.
MotoGP ambitions
The 33-year-old sits fifth in the 2026 MotoGP Riders' standings with 57 points after four rounds.
Marquez trails championship leader Marco Bezzecchi by 44 points but remains a major threat as the defending champion and a proven winner on the Ducati GP26.
Why Marquez could win the 2026 French MotoGP
The French MotoGP has historically been a happy hunting ground for Marquez, with multiple wins there (2014, 2018, 2019) thanks to his aggressive braking and cornering style suiting the technical chicanes and long straights.
The accomplished rider has shown strong early-season speed with Sprint victories and made progress in post-Jerez testing, positioning the eight-time champion for a potential resurgence at a track that rewards bold moves and tyre management.

“Jerez was not one of my best weekends, but I was able to fight for the victory," Marquez said after the 2026 Spanish MotoGP as he turned his attention to the French MotoGP.
"I am happy for the result and also for the Monday test. I tested many things and improved a bit. Now, here in Le Mans—another circuit where we have struggled—we will see.
“I like this circuit. In 2014, I won; 2013 was also a good race in the wet. Last year, I was fighting for the podium. So, we will see. We will try our best. We know that a podium here would be a good result.”
