Lando Norris will be eager to secure his first win in Montreal and keep his defence of the Formula One World title on track.

Most recent race

The McLaren driver finished second in the Miami Grand Prix after a solid race, having challenged the Mercedes duo at the front.

Norris finished over 30 seconds behind winner Kimi Antonelli, leaving him visibly frustrated over the radio about the missed opportunity to win the race.

Formula One ambitions

The British driver sits fourth in the World Drivers' Championship standings with 51 points after four races.

Norris trails teammate Oscar Piastri (also on 51 points), Charles Leclerc (third on 59), George Russell (80) and championship leader Kimi Antonelli (100).

Why Norris could shine in Montreal

The winner of the 2026 Laureus World Sports Award for Breakthrough of the Year has shown strong pace at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in recent years and took pole position in 2024.

With McLaren's aerodynamic upgrades due this weekend, which suit the high-speed corners and long straights of Montreal, Norris has historically performed well on this track when the car has balance.

Quotes

“Credit to Kimi (Antonelli), he managed a strong race and Mercedes clearly still have an edge. At the same time, it hurts because a win was possible," Norris said after the 2026 Miami GP.

"We’ll review what we could have done differently and keep pushing to bring more performance, especially in the high-speed corners where Mercedes are very strong. Miami suits us, but Canada has traditionally favoured them.

"So, we’ll stay patient, keep our heads down, and judge our progress over the next few races. We’re proud of the step, but we want to be the best. This is a long season, and we’re here to fight.”
