Abie Goldberry was set on fire during a game in 1930 when the puck struck a pack of matches in his pocket. He was badly burned by the fire, but honestly, why would you ever pack matches to a hockey game? Besides that, you’re surrounded by ice!

Anybody who watches the NHL Draft knows that the process is extremely long and tedious. In an attempt to make fun of the drafting process, the Buffalo Sabres drafted a player who didn’t exist. This joke went on until training began with nobody figuring out.
NHL Goalies Rule
So apparently, the rules of the NHL state that, if all goalies for both teams are injured, teams can choose anybody from the crowd to play goalie for them. Imagine being called out onto the ice in front of thousands of people!
Tiger Williams in the box
Tiger Williams is the NHL record holder for minutes spent within the penalty box at a massive 3,966 minutes. That’s approximately 2.7 days spent within a time-out box.
Who cares about the Stanley Cup!
When the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup in 1962, the players accidentally threw the Stanley Cup into a bonfire while celebrating. Maybe they got a little too excited or maybe they didn’t want anyone else to ever win it.
The NHL doesn’t own the Stanley Cup
Technically, the NHL does not own the Stanley Cup. It is awarded to teams after they have won a championship. This means that other teams could potentially challenge for Stanley Cups during the off-season but that would undermine the competition of the NHL Finals.
