Ferrari's Charles Leclerc heads into the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, November 13, looking to deny Red Bull a one-two finish in the drivers' standings.

The Monegasque was overtaken by Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez into second place after only managing P6 in the Mexico City Grand Prix, with 'Checo' having finished third on the podium.

Leclerc now trails the Mexican by five points with two races remaining in the season despite claiming five podiums in the last six rounds.

The 25-year-old has racked up 275 points thus far, making it his best performance in a Formula One season, surpassing the tally of 264 he recorded in 2019.

Leclerc has expressed an eagerness to start preparing for 2023 as he plans to mount a renewed challenge on the World Championship title even though Ferrari chairman John Elkann stated he wants the team to produce a champion by 2026.

"I know that the President [Elkann] has said that it is a goal to be achieved by 2026 but, as a driver, I cannot think about this deadline," he told Motorsport.

"I am very impatient, I will prepare and do everything possible to be World Champion in 2023.

"I am a better driver [now] than in 2021, just like I think I was [then] compared to 2020. When I realised that I would have the opportunity to battle for poles and victories, I further charged, even unknowingly – it made me pull out the best in me."
