Matchday 10

Manchester City v Southampton

Manchester City will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when Southampton visit the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, October 8.

The Citizens recorded their sixth win in eight games as they thrashed neighbours Manchester United 6-3 last weekend, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both bagging hat-tricks.

Pep Guardiola's side remain one point behind league leaders Arsenal, who also tasted derby success against Tottenham at the weekend.

Haaland has now scored an incredible 14 goals in just eight league appearances for City and Guardiola admits those instincts come naturally to the Norwegian star.

"I say it many times and I will say again - what Erling is doing he did in Norway, Austria and Germany," the Spaniard said.

"The quality we have alongside him helps him score, but what he is doing I didn't teach him. He has incredible instincts. It comes from his mum and dad. He was born with that."

The Saints are struggling for form this term and find themselves down in 16th place after winning just two of their opening eight matches.

The 2-1 defeat to Everton at St Mary's last weekend was their third consecutive loss and the fourth in five games.

Joe Aribo gave the hosts a 49th-minute lead, but two quickfire goals from Conor Coady (52') and Dwight McNeil (54') secured the comeback win for the Toffees.

Ralph Hasenhuttl conceded his team were made to pay for their wastefulness, having created numerous chances but only find the back of the net once.

"We didn't have the clinical finish today and we had so many chances where we could've scored three or four goals today and we didn't do it, this is the thing that is missing in our game," the Austrian said.

"The Premier League is brutal; it can show you immediately what is happening when you don't score these goals and then you concede them. It also, in a way, happened far too easy."
