2022/23 English Premier League

Matchday 11

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
London, England
Saturday, 15 October 2022
Kick-off is at 18h30

Tottenham will look to keep the pressure on the Premier League frontrunners when they welcome Everton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, October 15.

Spurs returned to winning ways this past weekend as they beat Brighton 1-0 on their travels after falling four points behind Arsenal with a 3-1 defeat in the North London derby prior to that.

Antonio Conte's side are four points clear of his former employers, Chelsea, who have a game in hand, and the Italian described the result at the Amex as a "deserved win" against an impressive Albion.

"It was a good win, and we showed great personality here. We played a good game with a lot of pressure, we accepted the man-to-man in every zone all over the pitch and I think we deserved to win a difficult game," Conte told SPURSPLAY.

"Don't forget Brighton is a really good team, their position in the table shows they are doing really well, they had a really good start to the season and to win away here isn't easy."

The Toffees suffered their first defeat in seven matches as Manchester United battled back from a goal down to emerge 2-1 victors at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Frank Lampard's team have been making steady progress this term after losing their opening two games and they recorded back-to-back wins against West Ham (1-0) and Southampton (2-1) before the visit of United.

Only goal difference is keeping the Merseysiders out of the top 10 and Lampard will continue to work on making improvements after admitting the Red Devils made them pay for two mistakes in the first half.

"There were a lot of lessons today," he said. "There was a lack of edge to our game which is normally there. We were off it in the first half. I also think we can improve our calmness in possession. We'll work on it and we're developing.

"I think the game was lost in the first half, from our point of view. The performance was short of where we've been and against a team with the quality of Manchester United.

"If you make mistakes and turnovers that lead directly to goals - that's the big threat of theirs and it always has been. We allowed that and that's disappointing from our point of view."
