The
2022 Bermuda Championship is scheduled to take place in Southampton, Bermuda between 27 and 30 October.
The event is part of the PGA Tour having debuted in October/November 2019 as part of the 2020 season and it is held at the Port Royal Golf Course.
The tournament is sponsored by Butterfield, the leading, independent offshore bank and trust company headquartered in Bermuda.
The current champion is Lucas Herbet having won the 2021 Bermuda Championship as he fired a two-under par 69 in windy and rainy conditions to capture the title.
Unfortunately, the Australian golfer will miss this year's tournament and a 132-player field will battle it out with the event being played out over four days.
The field is headlined by the likes of Seamus Power, Lucas Glover, Chesson Hadley and more, and the event will offer Official World Golf Ranking points to the winner.
Furthermore, the players will be competing for an $6.5 million purse, with one (Power) of the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking among the top contenders.
“We are excited the Butterfield Bermuda Championship will be played as a stand-alone event this year and we welcome the adjustments and additional international exposure that this brings," Danielle Baiunco, Tournament Director of the Bermuda Championship, said ahead of this year's event.
"The confirmed dates also make it easier for players to travel to and from Bermuda as a part of the revised tour schedule.
"We look forward to hosting a world-class event in Bermuda for PGA Tour members and local professionals with an ability to welcome an increased number of spectators.
"As with all PGA Tour events, maximizing charitable giving and having a positive impact on the wider community remains a key focus for this year.”
