2022/23 English Premier League

Matchday 14

Manchester United v West Ham United

Old Trafford
Manchester, England
Sunday, 30 October 2022
Kick-off is at 16h15

Manchester United will look to keep the momentum going when West Ham visit Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, October 30.

The Red Devils earned a dramatic 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the capital last Saturday, courtesy of Casemiro's 94th-minute equaliser which cancelled out Jorginho's 87th-minute penalty.

The stalemate extended United's unbeaten run in the league to four matches since their humiliating 6-3 defeat to neighbours Manchester City.

Erik ten Hag's side trail top-of-the-table Arsenal by eight points in sixth position and remain just one shy of the Champions League places.

Ten Hag was pleased to see his philosophy of dominating big fixtures take hold against the Blues, who were forced into a tactical change on 36 minute to counteract United's grip on proceedings at Stamford Bridge.

"That was a good part in the game and it's part of our philosophy to dominate big games," the Dutchman said. "Especially when you can do it against a team like Chelsea with one of the best teams in the Premier League, that gives a good feeling and so now we are to do it over 90 minutes.

"Even when an opponent is switching systems, it doesn't have to take influence [on our game]."

The Hammers are only in action on Monday against Bournemouth, but saw a three-match unbeaten run come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Liverpool last Wednesday.

That run of results had taken David Moyes' team clear of the relegation zone, although Leicester's 4-0 win over Wolves pushed the East Londoners down to 17th spot.

Moyes was encouraged by the performance of his players at Anfield, saying they're beginning to get to the standards of last season, which saw them finish seventh in the standings.

"I think the performances are beginning to get more like what we want," the Scot told WHTV. "I thought Declan Rice was probably the best player on the pitch tonight so, from that point of view, we're beginning to get more back to some of the levels.

"Even some of the performances from Tomas [Soucek] and others were better, and there's bits of the play where the boys are getting a little bit better, so let's hope we can keep improving."
