2025-26 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 10
Real Betis v Atletico Madrid
Estadio La Cartuja
Seville, Spain
Monday, 27 October 2025
Kick-off is at 22h00
Atletico Madrid will be looking to build on their fourth win of the season when they head south-east of the capital to face Real Betis at LaCartuja on Monday, October 27.
Los Colchoneros have recovered from a rocky start to the campaign which saw them pick up just two points from their opening three matches.
A 1-0 win over Osasuna on October 18 extended their unbeaten run to eight games and took Diego Simeone's side into the top four, one point behind third-placed Villarreal and a further seven adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.
Betis are level with Atleti on 16 points and they're kept out of the UEFA Champions League places on goal difference, with the two teams separated by a solitary strike.
Manuel Pellegrini's side are on a good run of form as well, having gone undefeated in their last seven outings following a 2-2 draw with Villarreal on October 18.
Los Verdiblancos have only won one of their last 10 encounters against Atletico, who boast seven victories during that period.
Simeone reserved special praise for goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who made a vital save late on to ensure the Madrid giants held on for the firth straight home win.
"He's a great goalkeeper, he's been with us for years and we're not surprised because [saves like that] have happened in many situations," the Argentine said.
"We're very happy that we didn't concede a goal, as the team started very well until [Alex] Baena's goal, then it was more sluggish and slow.
"We had two chances from [Antoine] Griezmann, one from Julian [Alvarez], then we went looking for the goal, we took risks by leaving spaces and a good move from Giuliano [Simeone] and [Thiago] Almada's arrival led to the goal."
"I think the team knew how to suffer in the final stages. [Osasuna] had a lot of tall players, but we controlled the area well, except for the crosses, because we allowed them too many and that forced us to overexert ourselves inside the area."
