Final

Paris Saint Germain v Bayern Munich

Lisbon, Portugal
Sunday, 23 August 2020
Kick-Off: 19h00

The 2020 UEFA Champions League final will be between Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich at the Estádio da Luz on 23 August 2020.

As with the 2010 and 2015 finals, both teams are seeking a win to secure the treble.

The match will be held behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic in Europe which led to the suspension of the tournament in March 2020.

The winners will earn the right to play against the winners of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League in the 2020 UEFA Super Cup.

They will also qualify to enter the group stage of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, but both finalists have already qualified through their league performance.

Marquinhos, the PSG defender, says their defence was key to their successful run to the final.

"The defence has been our strength this year. I think a team has to defend well and be solid at the back to get good results," Marquinhos said.

"We have great players in attack, but we also have a solid defence and that really makes the difference.

"We know we're going to score, we know our qualities up front, so if we can keep things tight at the back, it's crucial, and we need to do that in the final too."

PSG are hoping to clinch their maiden Champions League title and they will also be making their debut appearance in the final

They will look to their star players Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, who are widely regarded as some of the best players in world football.

Meanwhile, Bayern will be making their 11th appearance in the final having lifted the coveted title five times in 1974, 1975, 1976, 2001 and 2013.

They will pin their hopes on their free-scoring attacking midfielder Serge Gnabry and one of the best strikers in world football, Robert Lewandowski.

The last competitive meeting between the two teams was on 05 December 2017.

Bayern secured a 3-1 victory over PSG in a Champions League group stage match at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
